1 Year anniversary!

Today, April 8th, marks the 1-year anniversary of Warbound.

I can not believe it’s been a year already. A year full laughs, many decisions, some controversy and a lot of progress.

We can’t wait for you to see everything we have planned for the second year of development! We have lots planned already :)

Lorem Ipsum new website yay!

We are very excited to introduce our new website, which you can find at https://warbound.com!

After experimenting with different options for our domain over the last few months, we figured that it was about time to bite the bullet and build out our own website. We’ve actually been talking about this for quite a while, with discussions happening as early as May of last year. Here’s one of our very first concepts for how the website could look, dated May 15th, 2024!

Our current design originates from late September 2024, with much of the groundwork happening in coordination with the overall visual language of Warbound taking shape. When it became clear that we wanted to move to hosting a full website, we sat down and refined those original concepts, arriving at our current design.

The website has two primary goals:

First, it serves as a landing page for the project, and a permanent internet presence. Asking people to join the discord server to show off the game is not always ideal - the website lets us show off the game without requiring you to have a discord account or having to scroll up through discord channels.

Second, it works as a much more accessible source of news & development progress. Sharing a link to a development update is much easier than trying to refer somebody to a specific string of discord messages, especially if they don’t have a discord account. It also makes it easier to browse through older news. In this vein, we’ve also implemented an RSS feed, so you can get news about development in as many places as possible!

One more benefit is that we now have the full range of HTML syntax available to us when writing devlogs and other news, givins us much more flexibility with styling! This also means @Pjosip won’t have to rush to copy-paste 3-4 pages worth of content into a discord channel when posting a new devlog, making his life much easier :p

The website is still quite early, so it may be a little rough around the edges - if you stumble into weird behaviour, or have any other feedback, shoot us a message! We’re continuing to work on it and making improvements all the time.

Going forward, devlogs will be posted on the website instead of Discord, to allow us to make the most of all these new features. We will still post a summarized version on Discord with a link to read more on the website. The same thing will happen on Reddit and Bluesky! Oh, did we mention we have Reddit and Bluesky accounts?

Expansion to Reddit and Twitter Bluesky

We’ve decided to expand our community outreach to Reddit and Bluesky.

We chose Bluesky over X, aka Twitter, because from our experience, there are far less bots on the platform, and engagement is focused more around the community following the account rather than other unrelated accounts trying to promote themselves. This way we get a better overview of what you’re saying without having to face off against the hoards of onlyfans and AI accounts, letting us focus more on the genuine comments we get from you, our community.

By expanding to these new platforms we can stay in touch with you in more ways while posting interesting content.

Feel free to give us a follow and join the subreddit!

New role, @Work-In-Progress Announcements

We have created a new role for people interested in getting notified when there’s a new Work-In-Progress post, so now you can get spammed by @Encodic to your heart’s content!

Starting from today you can enable it through the Channels & Roles page.

Hit detection, Health, Stamina and a killfeed!

Last, but not least, @Encodic has been working on FPS systems that will make this FPS feel more like an FPS and less like a tech-demo for a game about running around a test map with a fully-automatic bolt-action rifle!

The player now has health and stamina, ensuring they are no longer an immortal being that can sprint without ever getting tired. And when you get shot you can feel it! (or at least your character can) And others can feel it when you shoot them!

Many exciting new developments indeed.

@Encodic has been hard at work implementing much of the UI that was teased in previous devlogs. Features like the crosshair, weapon info, health and stamina UI elements have been implemented, while design work on the weapon selector has been ongoing!

Another piece of UI that @Encodic has been working on is the score pop-ups, so you can see exactly how much pain you inflicted on your enemies!

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for a wonderful first year of development, you’ve been amazingly supportive while providing valid critique and insightful feedback.

You’re everything a dev team could wish for from a community, thank you. <3 Stay safe out there on the battlefield, and see you in the next devlog!
